Modern Slavery Act Statemen

East Cement is committed to operating with integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights. We strongly oppose all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced or compulsory labor. This statement outlines the steps East Cement has taken and continues to take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains.

Our Business

East Cement is a multidisciplinary construction and engineering group headquartered in Amman, Jordan, with operations across the Middle East and West Asia. Our subsidiaries — Elite Engineering, Hijaz Holding, and Bilad Asham — operate in technical design, construction, and logistics respectively. Our workforce includes in-house professionals, technical experts, site labor, and contracted service providers.

Our Commitment

We uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and compliance across all facets of our operations. Our policies and business practices are designed to ensure that we:

  • Comply with all applicable labor and employment laws in jurisdictions where we operate;

  • Respect the rights and dignity of workers at every level of our business and supply chain;

  • Monitor, assess, and mitigate risks related to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Our Supply Chain and Risk Assessment

We recognize that risks of modern slavery are heightened in sectors involving construction, raw material sourcing, and subcontracted labor. As such, we:

  • Conduct due diligence on key suppliers and contractors, particularly those in high-risk jurisdictions;

  • Include ethical labor standards and anti-slavery provisions in supplier contracts;

  • Reserve the right to audit or assess supply chain practices when warranted.

Policies and Governance

East Cement has implemented internal policies and procedures to guide ethical conduct and labor practices, including:

  • A Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, applicable to all employees and contractors;

  • Whistleblower mechanisms for reporting unethical or illegal activity without fear of retaliation;

  • A Supplier Code of Conduct that requires compliance with anti-slavery principles.

Training and Awareness

We continue to raise awareness across our workforce and management teams to identify and prevent potential indicators of modern slavery. Training initiatives are designed to:

  • Equip staff in procurement, HR, and project management with tools to detect risk;

  • Foster a culture of accountability and vigilance.

Ongoing Action and Review

East Cement is committed to continuously improving its approach to modern slavery prevention. We will:

  • Periodically review and update our policies;

  • Monitor evolving risks within our operations and supply chains;

  • Reinforce compliance through contractual controls, audits, and engagement with partners.
